The Toilet Brush Moment (noun)

A sudden, piercing flash of inspiration or creative realisation that occurs while engaged in a mundane, domestic, or otherwise unglamorous task.
The acute psychological pivot wherein an individual recognises an urgent need for personal or professional change, typically striking at an inconvenient or inappropriate time (e.g., mid-scrub, in transit, or during a social gathering).
Etymology: Derived from the juxtaposition of a high-level intellectual breakthrough (the Aha! moment) with the lowly nature of household maintenance.

A creative writing technique used to practice showing rather than telling in narrative prose. Involves close observation and descriptive detail to convey emotion, setting and sub-text.
Designed to refine a writer’s descriptive ability, enhance reader immersion, and deepen understanding of how readers emotionally engage with a story.
Etymology: Originated as a teaching method in writing workshops developed and curated by begin-a-book® Writing Services & Independent Publishers.
